I already have some. Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/can-i-have-the-keyboard-with-no-keyswitches-i-already-have-some Unfortunately, we do not offer a switchless variant. When we make the unit, we have to put all the switches in and test each key to make sure it works. And then for a switchless variant, we have to pull them all out again. So we would end up doing more work per unit, but can't justify charging more because we’re shipping you less stuff. ### Can I have my order delivered while I'm traveling? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/can-i-order-while-traveling Ordering a keyboard to a temporary address you'll only be at for a few days is not a good idea. It is unlikely you'll actually get your order. All our keyboards have a lead time before shipping, and we’re not able to guarantee specific delivery dates. Because of this, we generally only recommend ordering if you know you’ll be available at one address for more than 3-4 weeks from the time of order and be able to sign for your parcel when it arrives. ### Can I return the Voyager? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/can-i-return-the-keyboard Absolutely! We have a 30-day return window from the time you get the keyboard. Read our full [return policy](/return-policy). ### How do I clean my keyboard? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/cleaning-your-keyboard Washing your hands frequently is probably the easiest way to keep your Voyager clean. For dust and debris, keep a compressed air can handy and just blow it off. You can wipe it down regularly with a dry microfiber cloth. If it needs more cleaning than that, use a barely damp microfiber cloth followed by a clean dry cloth. To thoroughly clean the keycaps, you can remove them and wash them with warm water, by hand (don't run them through your dishwasher!). If needed, while washing you can also gently wipe the keycaps with a moistened microfiber cloth (the kind you'd use to clean glasses or other device screens). Of course, make sure the keycaps are completely dry before installing them again. Do not use soap, straight isopropyl alcohol or denture cleaning tabs — those might damage the keycaps and the housing of the Voyager. ### Does the Voyager require software to work? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/does-the-keyboard-require-software The Voyager does not require you to install anything to start typing. Just plug it in and go! All of the advanced firmware features such as dual-function keys, layers, and macros will just work. That's because they're all saved on the keyboard itself, in firmware. Changing your Voyager firmware (modifying your layout) may require some setup, depending on your operating system: - If you are using Windows, you will need to install [Keymapp](/flash/). - If you are using Linux, you will need to set up [udev rules](https://github.com/zsa/wally/wiki/Linux-install#2-create-a-udev-rule-file). - If you are on macOS, you do not need to make any changes. You can perform this setup on one device, save your layout to your keyboard (we call this "flashing"), then take your keyboard to another device, and your layout will be the same — it'll just keep working. ### How can I ensure the smoothest delivery for my order? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/ensuring-smooth-delivery Our keyboards (and most other items) have [a lead time](when-will-i-get-my-product), but we ship as soon as we can, often sooner than the stated lead time. This means the exact time it takes to ship your keyboard varies, and the delivery date depends on the courier's schedule. Most orders also ship with a signature requirement to make sure they reach you. Here are a few things you can do to make the delivery as smooth as possible: - Ship to an address where you or someone you trust will be for around 3-4 weeks following your order to allow for plenty of flexibility if your order is ready quickly or unexpectedly delayed. When you get your order confirmation email, please double-check that your shipping address is correct. Do not try to ship the board [while traveling for short periods](can-i-order-while-traveling). It is not possible to redirect a shipment once it ships. - Watch for the shipping confirmation email with the tracking number from the courier and check the tracking regularly. Shipping is usually quite fast, but there may still be unpredictable delays, especially around holidays. If there are import fees due, they should be payable from the tracking page, or the courier should contact you about them, as the keyboard is arriving in your country. If you don't hear from the courier about this but it appears your package has stalled, please reach out directly to the courier. - If the first delivery attempt fails for any reason (this can happen if you're not home or the courier has not received your import fee payment), couriers will usually attempt to deliver 1-2 more times during the following business days. If you will not be able to receive the package, you can request the courier hold the package for pickup instead. Couriers will usually hold packages for about a week before sending them back. - [Do not waive the signature requirement](what-if-the-courier-loses-my-parcel-or-it-gets-stolen). While we want to help as much as we can with deliveries, we don't have very much control over what couriers do. We always recommend reaching out to couriers directly first because the courier will often ask for this anyway — they prefer to deal with the package recipient when it comes to delivery issues. If you need to reschedule a delivery date, ask the courier to attempt delivery again, or organize a pickup rather than delivery, these are all things we do not control. If you have tried contacting the courier and aren't getting anywhere, or you think your package is lost, then please do reach out to us. These are issues that we can help with. ### How much does shipping cost? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/how-much-does-shipping-cost The Voyager ships for free, woohoo! This is courier shipping, fast and fully tracked. See also [Who is responsible for customs, duties and taxes?](who-is-responsible-for-customs-duties-and-taxes) ### What is a good mouse to use with the Voyager? Can I use the keyboard as a mouse? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/recommended-mouse There are plenty of good mouse options out there. Some may work well for one person while others may not. We don't recommend any one specific product as the best option to use with any of our keyboards. One popular configuration is to place a mouse between the two halves of one of our split keyboards, but there is nothing wrong with keeping a mouse to the edge as long as it's comfortable for you. While we do allow you to assign mouse keys in Oryx, these are meant to complement another pointing device. We don't recommend using one of our keyboards as your only pointing device. ### How can I change the shipping address? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/shipping-address-change If your order did not yet ship, please [email support](mailto:contact@zsa.io) as soon as you realize you need to change the address. Sometimes we can help — but not always, as the keyboard may ship before we see your email. If your Voyager is already on its way, it's too late to change your shipping address. Your order will go to the address you specified when you made your order. This is not because we don't want to help: Because we use very fast delivery services, it's not possible to make changes once a shipment is on its way. ### Will the keyboard work with third-party cables? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/third-party-cables Most likely yes, but there are tons and tons of cables out there, and the quality varies. We deliberately choose common cables for our keyboards so they can be replaced, but we can't guarantee every cable will work. **A note on magnetic cables:** It is significantly easier to create a catastrophic short or otherwise improper connection if using a magnetic cable to connect your keyboard to your computer. While some people use magnetic cables without any issue, we do not recommend them, and a short caused by such a third-party cable is not covered by our warranty policy. ### What if I don't accept my Voyager when it arrives? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/what-happens-if-i-don-t-accept-my-keyboard-when-it-arrives If you refuse the delivery or are otherwise unable to receive the package (whether due to being out of country, providing incorrect shipping information to us, not clearing through customs, etc.), the courier will return the package to us. This is not free — we pay to ship the keyboard to you and again to ship it back. Once the keyboard arrives back in Taiwan, we would refund your order, minus $97 shipping fees (the typical cost of a round-trip shipment). Note that in some cases, couriers will prepay the import fees before delivering your package to you. If this happens and you reject the package, **the courier will still expect you to cover the import fees even if you refuse to accept the parcel.** This is obviously not how we would prefer the couriers handle this, but we have no control over imports. We cannot do anything to stop couriers from charging you if this comes up. The transaction is between you and the courier. If the courier attempts to deliver and you are not there to receive the package, don't panic; you have time. First, ensure that you have paid any import fees for the package (usually viewable from the tracking page). Couriers will sometimes automatically mark deliveries as failed if these aren't paid. If a delivery attempt fails, the courier should attempt the delivery again soon or take the package to a pickup location. If the courier is unable to deliver and you don't pick the package up for around a week, the courier will contact us to return the package, and we will consider it refused as above. ### What if the courier loses my parcel or it gets stolen? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/what-if-the-courier-loses-my-parcel-or-it-gets-stolen We ship our boards with a signature requirement. If a signature is required on your parcel and it is lost or stolen, the courier will reimburse us, and thus we will be able to refund you. If, however, you contact the courier and explicitly ask them to waive the signature requirement on your parcel, and it then gets stolen (it happens!) we will not be able to refund you in full, but only 50% of your purchase price. In other words, please do not waive the signature requirement on your parcel -- it is there so we can refund you if it gets lost or stolen. If you suspect that your package was lost or stolen, call the courier right away and then [let us know](mailto:contact@zsa.io). Usually, the courier will start an investigation, and if they find the package, they'll deliver it to you. If they don't find it, we'll file a claim for reimbursement when they've completed their investigation, and then we can reship your keyboard or issue you a refund. This process can take a couple weeks or longer (up to six weeks for orders shipped around late December). ### What is your warranty policy? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/what-is-your-warranty-policy We cover the Voyager with our extensive 2-year warranty from original delivery date for the original buyer. Read our full [warranty policy](/warranty). If you feel that something isn't working right, or have questions regarding our warranty, please [contact us](mailto:contact@zsa.io). ### Where do you ship? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/where-do-you-ship Our keyboards ship to most countries in the world. We use UPS, DHL and FedEx to get your keyboards to you quickly and safely. We ship from Taiwan. We cannot ship to P.O. boxes. ### Who is responsible for customs, duties and taxes? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/who-is-responsible-for-customs-duties-and-taxes The price you see on our website does not include any customs or duties. For many countries, your government requires you to pay customs and handling charges. Commonly, the local shipping company will collect these fees upon arrival. We cannot estimate or charge these fees in advance, nor do we control them. The actual amount you're charged may vary, but expect the tax to be significant. Please take this into account. You can try to get an estimate of these taxes by searching for "Duty Calculator" (we don't link to a specific one as each country has its own, usually). Our keyboards and accessories are made in **Taiwan** and ship from Taiwan. The HS codes we use are: - 84716030906 - For all of our keyboards - 84733000006 - For any parts (Navigator, keyswitches, keycaps, repair parts, etc.) - 48211000007 - For our amazing stickers These charges are unrelated to the shipping charge. We will also not be able to refund this should you decide to return the board or reject the parcel, since we are not the ones charging you. See our [return policy](/return-policy) for more on how returns work. These charges are also separate from any sales tax charged at checkout. We are not able to charge import fees at the time of purchase. If you're in the US, the sales tax goes to your state, and the import dues go to the federal government. ZSA has no control over either of these, and keeps none of the money. Note that some orders may ship in several parcels (for example, if you're ordering a keyboard together with a Satellite, those ship separately). This would require you to pay any "flat" import fees twice, once per parcel. If you're ordering from Canada, the government requires you to pay sales tax at the time of purchase, and you must pay sales tax again when you receive your keyboard, since your order is shipped from Taiwan by another company. The courier will also charge for handling (usually under $20 CAD). We will refund the second sales tax charge, but not the handling charges from the courier. For us to refund the second sales tax charge, please send us a copy of the receipt from the courier. We understand that taxes can be frustrating, but if you order a keyboard and then change your mind because of the taxes your country charges, it means we have to pay the courier to ship it back to us. Therefore, we cannot issue a full refund, and even if you refuse the parcel, your courier may still charge you those customs fees (that's between you and the courier, ZSA has no control over this). See also [what happens if I don't accept my keyboard when it arrives?](what-happens-if-i-don-t-accept-my-keyboard-when-it-arrives). ### Will the keyboard work on a Chromebook? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/will-the-keyboard-work-on-a-chromebook Yes, as an input device. You'd be able to use it for typing, as well as for training on [typ.ing](https://typ.ing). However, to flash new firmware, you would need to use a machine running Windows, macOS, or Linux. ### Will the Voyager work on an iPad? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/will-the-keyboard-work-on-an-i-pad Maybe. Anecdotally, some of our boards do work on some iPad models, but not all. The board was not explicitly designed from the ground up to work with an iPad, and it may draw more power than the iPad has to give. We've also seen our boards work with some Android phones and tablets. ### Will the Voyager work with a USB hub or KVM switch? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/will-the-keyboard-work-with-kvm Often yes, but not always. USB hubs and KVMs can sometimes prevent our boards from drawing the full power out of a USB port. In rare cases, this may mean the unit will not work at all, but it is far more common to only cause issues while flashing new layouts. This can almost always be fixed by plugging the unit directly into your device. If you are buying a USB hub or KVM specifically to use with one of our keyboards, we recommend getting a powered one (i.e, a unit that has a dedicated power supply that plugs into the wall). ### Will the Voyager work with a remote desktop software? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/will-the-keyboard-work-with-remote-desktop It might, but in our experience, it's hit-or-miss. One potential issue is that some remote desktop tools expect certain keyboard behavior based on how average keyboards work, so they can get confused about the more advanced functions of our boards like [Tap Dance](https://blog.zsa.io/2101-introducing-tap-dance/) and [Macros](https://blog.zsa.io/2003-oryx-macros/). In some cases, you can resolve this by telling the software to base input on your local device rather than the host. Here's how to do that with Windows RDP: 1. Open Remote Desktop Connection and go to Options -> Local Resources -> Keyboard. 2. Click the "Apply Windows key combinations" drop-down menu and choose "On this computer" (or it's sometimes called "On the local computer"). Other RDP softwares may have a similar setting. In some other cases, toggling on "Troubleshoot Media Keys in Windows 10" or "Troubleshoot USB Polling Rate" in Oryx's advanced settings can help. Because of the variety of tools available, we're not sure if the unit will work with any particular remote desktop or virtualization tool, and we're not able to officially support using these tools with our keyboards. ### Can I use the keyboard on a boat? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/voyager-on-a-boat First, we love that this is even a question (and yes, that is a real question that came from several users). Unfortunately, the answer is no. It isn't because the keyboard gets seasick; it's the humidity, really. On board a boat (even moored), you're going to have high levels of ambient humidity. And that humid air may have some salt in it, too (that crisp sea air). That combination of humid and salty air unfortunately wreaks havoc on the circuit boards of the Voyager. The board is meant for use on dry land — designing it to withstand marine condition would significantly add to the costs. Thus, our warranty does not cover issues caused by exposure to humidity or water. ### How much does the Voyager weigh? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/voyager-weight Each half of the Voyager weighs 217g, with both feet attached. The total weight of the Voyager is 678g. That's with all three USB-C cables, the TRRS cable, the four legs and metal holder, and the keyboard itself, all in the carrying case. This weight includes the carrying case, too. ### What are the physical dimensions of the Voyager? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/what-are-the-physical-dimensions-of-the-voyager The width of each half of the Voyager is 14cm. The depth of each half is 14.5cm. The height of the board, including the keycaps, is 1.6cm. We have a [printable 1:1 PDF](/assets/voyager/1-1.pdf) which allows you to get a sense for the size of the Voyager and how it might fit on your desk. ### What cables ship with the Voyager? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/what-cables-ship-with-the-voyager The Voyager comes with four cables in the box: - USB-C: - 30cm: For connecting to a laptop that's directly on your desk. - 50cm: For connecting to a laptop that's on a riser. - 210cm: For connecting to a permanent desktop setup. - TRRS: A 90cm TRRS ("headphone") cable for connecting both halves. We also include a USB C-to-A dongle in the box. ### What does the Voyager sound like? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/what-does-the-voyager-sound-like That's a deeper question than it seems on the surface. Here are a few things to consider: - Mechanical keyboards (even low-profile ones like the Voyager) are not silent. Even if you get a quiet keyswitch such as the linear Kailh Choc Red, you will still get plastic-on-plastic "thwacking" sounds if you're an energetic typist. While you will have the quietest typing experience with linear switches, you will also have to type quite softly. - Sometimes, keyswitches "ping" on the upstroke. Not just clicky switches — this also happens with linear and tactile switches. It isn't a defect, that's just what they sound like. See the first point above — mechanical parts make all sorts of noises, by their nature. The good news is that you can swap out switches over time, to find the switches you like best. - Keyboards made years apart will sound different, even if they're specced out exactly the same. Same switches, same color, same lighting — different sound. We don't actually know why that is. Sound is an extremely complicated topic, and it is not a factor we can optimize for in manufacturing. We optimize for ergonomics, repairability, sustainability — carefully "tuning" each keyboard for sound would simply make our keyboards too expensive to make. All of this is to say that if you have very particular audio preferences, we cannot guarantee that our keyboards would serve your needs. To be a bit Zen about it: They sound what they sound like. ### What keycaps come with Voyager? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/what-keycaps-come-with-voyager We've created an entire [page](/voyager/our-keycaps) answering this question in great detail. Check it out! :) ### What keyswitches work with the "change-it-yourself" feature? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/what-keyswitches-work-with-the-change-it-yourself-feature Any low-profile Kailh Choc V1 switch will work. MX-style keyswitches do not work with the Voyager, as it is a low-profile keyboard. Choc V2 switches are not supported either: These use different sockets, and we felt V1 was a better fit for the Voyager's form factor. ### When will I get my Voyager? Source: https://www.zsa.io/voyager/faq/when-will-i-get-my-product Current lead time for the Voyager is two weeks — each unit is built to order in our manufacturing facility in Taiwan. This is an estimate rather than a promise. Most of that time is spent in manufacturing and quality control — actual shipping is very fast, via courier. Being an estimate, that means the unit might ship slightly later — but it might also ship sooner! Naturally, we strive for "sooner" rather than later — so please be sure someone is available to sign for the parcel even if it ships within less than a week of you ordering it. If your order still hasn’t shipped after the stated lead time, feel free to [write us](mailto:contact@zsa.io) and ask about it. ## Moonlander FAQ ### Can I order the Moonlander with no keyswitches? I already have some. Source: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/faq/can-i-have-the-keyboard-with-no-keyswitches-i-already-have-some Unfortunately, we do not offer a switchless variant. Source: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/faq/how-much-does-shipping-cost The Moonlander ships for free, woohoo! This is courier shipping, fast and fully tracked. Source: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/faq/recommended-mouse There are plenty of good mouse options out there. Source: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/faq/shipping-address-change If your order did not yet ship, please [email support](mailto:contact@zsa.io) as soon as you realize you need to change the address. Sometimes we can help — but not always, as the keyboard may ship before we see your email. If your Moonlander is already on its way, it's too late to change your shipping address. Your order will go to the address you specified when you made your order. This is not because we don't want to help: Because we use very fast delivery services, it's not possible to make changes once a shipment is on its way. ### Will the keyboard work with third-party cables? Source: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/faq/third-party-cables Most likely yes, but there are tons and tons of cables out there, and the quality varies. ### What if I don't accept my Moonlander when it arrives? Source: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/faq/what-happens-if-i-don-t-accept-my-keyboard-when-it-arrives If you refuse the delivery or are otherwise unable to receive the package (whether due to being out of country, providing incorrect shipping information to us, not clearing through customs, etc.), the courier will return the package to us. Source: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/faq/what-if-the-courier-loses-my-parcel-or-it-gets-stolen We ship our boards with a signature requirement. Source: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/faq/what-is-your-warranty-policy We cover the Moonlander with our extensive 2-year warranty from original delivery date for the original buyer. Read our full [warranty policy](/warranty). If you feel that something isn't working right, or have questions regarding our warranty, please [contact us](mailto:contact@zsa.io). ### What keyswitches work with the "change-it-yourself" feature? Source: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/faq/what-keyswitches-work-with-the-change-it-yourself-feature Any plate-mounted Cherry-compatible keyswitch will work. PCB-mounted switches could work too, but don't always fit as well. ### When will I get my Moonlander? Source: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/faq/when-will-i-get-my-product Current lead time for the Moonlander is two weeks — each unit is built to order in our manufacturing facility in Taiwan. ### Where do you ship? Source: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/faq/where-do-you-ship Our keyboards ship to most countries in the world. We use UPS, DHL and FedEx to get your keyboards to you quickly and safely. We ship from Taiwan. We cannot ship to P.O. boxes. ### Who is responsible for customs, duties and taxes? Source: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/faq/who-is-responsible-for-customs-duties-and-taxes The price you see on our website does not include any customs or duties. Source: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/faq/will-the-keyboard-work-on-a-chromebook Yes, as an input device. You'd be able to use it for typing, as well as for training on [typ.ing](https://typ.ing). However, to flash new firmware, you would need to use a machine running Windows, macOS, or Linux. ### Will the Moonlander work on an iPad? Source: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/faq/will-the-keyboard-work-on-an-i-pad Maybe. Anecdotally, some of our boards do work on some iPad models, but not all. The board was not explicitly designed from the ground up to work with an iPad, and it may draw more power than the iPad has to give. We've also seen our boards work with some Android phones and tablets. ### Will the Moonlander work with a USB hub or KVM switch? Source: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/faq/will-the-keyboard-work-with-kvm Often yes, but not always. ### Will the Moonlander work with a remote desktop software? Source: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/faq/will-the-keyboard-work-with-remote-desktop It might, but in our experience, it's hit-or-miss. Source: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/faq/moonlander-on-a-boat First, we love that this is even a question (and yes, that is a real question that came from several users). Unfortunately, the answer is no. It isn't because the keyboard gets seasick; it's the humidity, really. On board a boat (even moored), you're going to have high levels of ambient humidity. And that humid air may have some salt in it, too (that crisp sea air). That combination of humid and salty air unfortunately wreaks havoc on the circuit boards of the Moonlander. The board is meant for use on dry land — designing it to withstand marine condition would significantly add to the costs. Thus, our warranty does not cover issues caused by exposure to humidity or water. ### How much does the Moonlander weigh? Source: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/faq/moonlander-weight The Moonlander, including its wrist rests, is about 800g, and without the wrist rests is about 675g. The carrying case adds about 140g. So with the carrying case and wrist rests it would total about 940g (or 815g without the wrist rests). ### What are the physical dimensions of the Moonlander? Source: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/faq/what-are-the-physical-dimensions-of-the-moonlander The width of each half of the Moonlander is 17cm. The depth of each half is 25cm, including the Wing (excluding the Wing, that would be 17cm). The height of the board, including the keycaps, is 3cm. We have a [printable 1:1 PDF](/1-1.pdf) which allows you to get a sense for the size of the Moonlander and how it might fit on your desk. ### What cables ship with the Moonlander? Source: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/faq/what-cables-ship-with-the-moonlander The Moonlander comes with a USB C-to-C cable, which is 210 cm long. Included in the box is a USB C-to-A dongle which you can attach to the end of the cable, if your computer does not have a USB Type-C port. There's also an interconnect cable for plugging the right half into the left one. This is a TRRS (tip-ring-ring-sleeve) cable with a 3.5mm "headphone" plug on either end, and it's 70cm long. ### What does the Moonlander sound like? Source: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/faq/what-does-the-moonlander-sound-like That's a deeper question than it seems on the surface. Here are a few things to consider: - Mechanical keyboards are not silent. Even if you get a quiet keyswitch such as the linear Kailh Silver, you will still get plastic-on-plastic "thwacking" sounds if you're an energetic typist. ### What keycaps come with the Moonlander? Source: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/faq/what-keycaps-come-with-the-moonlander The Moonlander's printed 1u ("square") keycaps are OEM Row 3 profile, with the "line" keycaps custom-produced for the Moonlander. We also created the 1.5u vertical "piano keys" on the thumb cluster, as well as the 2u red "Launch/Any" keys specifically for this product. The Launch/Any keys ship with a costar stabilizer, which you can remove if you'd like (they're quite stable without it). You can replace them with any Cherry-compatible 2u keycap, and replace the "piano keys" with any Cherry-compatible 1.5u keycap. There is also a "blank" Moonlander variant, which ships with 1u "line" keycaps in OEM profiles Row 0 to Row 4. All keycaps are precision-injected out of high-quality PBT plastic, made in a doubleshot manufacturing process (i.e, the characters are physically baked into the keys, not printed). They're made for us by Tai-Hao, a Taiwanese manufacturer of high-end custom keycaps. ### Why doesn’t the Moonlander ship with outer legs? Source: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/faq/why-doesn-t-the-moonlander-ship-with-outer-legs Sharp-eyed customers will note that the Moonlander only ships with "inner" legs, to allow you to tent the board. It does, however, have metal threads on the outside for a set of "outer" legs. So, why don't we ship those legs with the board? The short answer is wrist extension. If we provided these legs by default, the obvious thing to do with them would be to angle up the back side of the board. This creates an opportunity for pain over time, and isn't very ergonomic. Another important reason we don't offer external legs is because using negative tilt, it is easy to put too much stress on the board's USB-C cable and connector. You end up squishing the end of the cable against your desk, bending it, and messing up the cable (and potentially even the port on the keyboard itself, resulting in a potentially expensive repair). So rather than include them with the board, we decided to offer them as an option. We don't use them ourselves and don't particularly recommend them, but if your use case calls for these legs, they're available on our [accessory section](/moonlander/accessories). Just be careful not to squish that cable.
